WEMBLEY (CONVERSEER) – Crystal Palace have done the unimaginable again after coming from behind twice to beat Liverpool to lift the 2025 Football Association, FA Community Shield.
The match ended 2-2 on normal time and went straight into a penalty shootout without extra time, and Palace beat the Reds 3-2 to clinch their first-ever Community Shield.
New signing Hugo Ekitike puts Liverpool in front in the fourth minute following a swift move by fellow new signing, Florian Witz.
The lead only lasted for 13 minutes when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored from the spot to draw Crystal Palace level after Virgil van Dijk was adjudged to have fouled Ismaila Sarr at the 18-yard box.
Jeremie Frimpong’s intended cross restored Liverpool’s lead in the 21st minute, going over Dean Henderson into the back of the net.
Sarr then drew Palace level again in the 77th minute and nothing was to separate both teams after 90 minutes.
Mohamed Salah, Alexis MacAllister and Harvey Elliott all missed their penalties for Liverpool while Mateta, Sarr and Justin Devenny converted theirs to hand over the Community Shield to Crystal Palace.
Recall that Palace won their first-ever trophy, the FA Cup, in May this year. They now have two trophies in three months.

Palace manager, Oliver Glasner has shown his class after delivering the Europa League trophy at Eintracht Frankfurt.
