CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke, PhD, has urged Nigerians to embrace collective action in driving national prosperity and sustainable development, particularly in the Niger Delta region.
In a message to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on Wednesday, Duke reflected on the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers, describing them as a source of inspiration for unity and progress. He noted that this year’s celebration theme, “All Hands on Deck,” highlights the need for inclusive participation in nation-building.
“As Nigerians, we must collaborate to consolidate the gains of our democratic journey and address the challenges that lie ahead,” Duke stated. “I urge you to remain steadfast in your commitment to our nation’s progress as we work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.”
The NDDC Commissioner reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to its core mandate of fostering development in the Niger Delta, emphasising that the body remains focused on promoting economic growth, reducing poverty, and achieving sustainable development in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“As your state representative in the commission, I remain committed to ensuring that Cross River State benefits from its fair share of interventions to support development and economic sustainability,” Duke assured.
He added that with unity, determination, and resilience, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and achieve its developmental goals.
“Happy Independence Day,” the message concluded.
