CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State Local Government Service Commission Chairman, Mr Darlington Basey Eyo, has resigned from office.

His resignation has been accepted by the Governor, Senator Bassey Otu.

According to a press statement by Mr Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Wednesday, 12th November, Eyo’s resignation stemmed from alleged gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering.

Governor Otu frowned at the recent local government recruitment handled by the Commission under Eyo’s watch, suspending the process which he described as being compromised.

“Cross River State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has accepted the resignation of Mr Darlington Basey Eyo as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, following findings of gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering in the Commission’s recent recruitment exercise.

“He said no act of impunity will be allowed to stain the public trust in the government,” the statement read.
