LONDON (CONVERSEER) – Chelsea have been beaten by Sunderland on match-day nine of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
The Blues lost 2-1 to the Black Cats on stoppage time, on Saturday, at Stamford Bridge, despite going a goal up in the 4th minute.
Alejandro Garnacho gave Chelsea the lead in the 4th minute, driving a low shot past Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, underneath his legs, after receiving a pass from Pedro Neto.
Sunderland then equalised through Wilson Isidor in the 22nd minute via a long throw, which was not properly dealt with by Chelsea defenders.
Both sides showed respect for each other as the host failed to threaten throughout the game until the 90+3 minutes when Chemsdine Talbi gave Sunderland the lead, after receiving a through ball from Bryan Brobbey, who held the ball well against Chelsea players in a scintillating counterattack.
