LAGOS (CONVERSEER) – The newly deployed CCTV system by the Federal Government has revealed three vandals caught in real-time criminal acts on Lagos 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged Nigerians to take collective ownership of public infrastructure in their environment and ensure its protection.
He made the appeal at the parade of vandals arrested through the newly deployed CCTV monitoring system in Lagos.
The 156 cat-eye reflective lights which are meant to enhance the aesthetic of the road were being pried open by the three vandals on the Third Mainland Bridge and were caught in real-time by the CCTV monitoring team
The vandals who claimed to be scavengers, popularly called “Bola”, failed to give coherent answers to the questions directed at them.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, while appreciating the police for their diligence expressed his discomfort over the indifferent attitude of some Nigerians towards public infrastructure.

Umahi also condemned the appalling indiscipline of Nigerians on the temporarily opened section of the coastal highway which had led to the death of a construction worker on the corridor.
The Minister directed the State controller of Works to ensure the vandals are prosecuted and warned intending offenders that the Eagle Eye on the Third Mainland Bridge is ready to thwart their nefarious activities.
