Calabar Rovers FC bus crash leaves player in critical condition

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Rovers Football Club of Calabar has confirmed that one of its players is in critical condition following a road accident involving the team’s bus en route to Lagos for a scheduled fixture against Sporting Lagos FC.

The accident occurred in Asaba, Delta State during the early hours of Tuesday.

In an official statement released by the club’s management, the incident was described as “tragic,” noting that the bus, which was conveying players, officials, and staff, lost control and tumbled during the journey. Several players sustained injuries of varying degrees, while one player is currently receiving intensive medical care.

The club expressed deep concern over the situation, stating that the injured players represent more than just the team, but also embody its identity and unity. “The pain they are currently going through is deeply felt by every member of the Rovers family,” the statement read.

Rovers FC assured that all necessary medical support is being provided to the injured, emphasising its commitment to the well-being of its players. The club also highlighted the emotional toll of the incident, describing it as a stark reminder of life’s fragility.

Management further acknowledged the support received from fans and the broader football community, urging continued prayers, particularly for the player in critical condition.

Despite the setback, the club maintained a message of resilience, expressing hope for recovery and unity in the aftermath of the incident.
