LAGOS (CONVERSEER) – An Asian man has taken to social media to thank the Police Complaint Response Unit for coming to his aid after an officer extorted N150,000 from him.

In a video released online, the Asian man said he was in an Uber heading to a bar where he could watch the AFCON match between Nigeria and Morocco when a police officer stopped the vehicle in Ikeja, Lagos state and asked for his passport to ascertain if he was legally residing in Nigeria. He said he wasn’t with his passport at the time and had to contact his staff to go to his apartment to get his passport and bring it to him.

The Asian man said that while waiting for the passport, the officer dragged him out of the Uber and threatened him with his gun. He said he was so scared and quickly gave them the N150,000 they demanded. He said he transferred the money because he was scared and needed to protect himself.
