Arsenal eye PSG star Kvaratskhelia for summer squad boost

LONDON (CONVERSEER) – Arsenal are exploring a potential move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as part of a wider squad overhaul expected this summer, according to reports.

The Arsenal FC hierarchy is understood to be assessing attacking reinforcements, with the Paris Saint-Germain winger identified as a key target capable of adding creativity and depth to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Sources indicate that Kvaratskhelia’s representatives are open to discussions over a possible transfer, although PSG are expected to adopt a firm stance in any negotiations. The French champions reportedly consider the 25-year-old a central figure in their long-term project and are reluctant to sanction his departure.

Arsenal’s interest comes amid plans to restructure the squad in line with evolving Premier League financial regulations, particularly the Squad Cost Ratio framework. The club is prepared to consider the sale of at least one senior player to create financial flexibility ahead of new acquisitions.

While departures are anticipated, insiders suggest Arsenal’s transfer activity will not be limited to outgoings, with further incomings likely as Arteta seeks to fine-tune his squad.

Kvaratskhelia has attracted attention following his recent performances, including a standout display against Chelsea FC in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored three goals in the round of 16. His individual brilliance and attacking versatility are seen as qualities that could significantly enhance Arsenal’s forward line.

However, any deal is expected to be complex. The Georgian forward only joined PSG from SSC Napoli last year in a move that itself involved protracted negotiations.

In a recent interview, Kvaratskhelia expressed satisfaction with life in Paris and stated his ambition to become one of the club’s greatest players. Despite this, his camp is reportedly willing to consider alternative opportunities should a suitable proposal emerge.

PSG sources maintain that the player remains “near-unsellable”, underlining the scale of the challenge facing Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Arteta is also believed to admire Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid, although a move appears unlikely due to the Spanish club’s valuation, reported to exceed €100 million (£86.5 million).
