MIAMI (CONVERSEER) – Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is expected to earn up to £70 million (currently about N135,250,907,890.39) following his emphatic victory over American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami.
Joshua stopped Paul in the sixth round on Friday night after dropping him three times in a dominant performance that underlined the gulf in class between the two fighters. The bout ended via knockout, with Joshua’s right hand finally sealing the contest after sustained pressure.
Paul later confirmed that he suffered a broken jaw during the fight and was taken to the hospital for treatment immediately after the bout. He did not attend the post-fight press conference.
Confirming the injury, Chief Executive Officer of Most Valuable Promotions, Mr Nikisa Bidarian, said the injury was not unusual in combat sports and disclosed that Paul is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
“He’s fine. He drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is very common in boxing or MMA. Doctors are saying four to six weeks for recovery,” Bidarian stated.
Fight statistics showed Joshua landed 48 of 146 punches for a 32.9 per cent accuracy rate, with 31 of those punches connecting in rounds five and six. Paul landed 16 of 56 punches, recording no successful strikes in the final round.
Despite the defeat, Paul admitted Joshua was the superior fighter and confirmed the extent of his injury.

“I think my jaw is broken. That was a good whooping from one of the best to ever do it. I love this sport and I’m going to come back for a world title,” Paul said.
He added that he plans to move forward in the cruiserweight division after recovery, while taking a short break following six years of intense activity.
Joshua, however, admitted he was not at his best on the night but said the objective was to secure a decisive win.
“It wasn’t the best performance. The goal was to pin Jake down and inflict harm on him. It took longer than expected, but the right hand got there,” Joshua said.
The British boxer praised Paul’s resilience, noting his refusal to stay down despite repeated knockdowns.
“You have to respect Jake for trying again and again. But he faced a real fighter tonight after my 15-month lay-off,” he added.
Looking ahead, Joshua reiterated his desire to face fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury in 2026, challenging him to step away from social media and return to the ring.
“If Tyson Fury is serious and wants to fight one of the realest out there, then I’m ready. Step in the ring with me,” Joshua declared.
