Anambra's former Deputy Speaker is dead

AKWA (CONVERSEER) – The former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. D. B. Afam Obi, has passed away.

Converseer could not ascertain the cause of his death at the time of this report.

However, in a statement released on Saturday, the family said the late lawmaker died after a life dedicated to public service, integrity, and community development.

Describing him as a respected leader, devoted father, and pillar of his community, the statement said Obi’s contributions to governance and grassroots development left a lasting impact on the people.

“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Rt. Hon. D. B. Afam Obi, former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

“A respected leader, devoted father, and pillar of his community, he dedicated his life to service, integrity, and the advancement of those around him,” the family said.

Adding, “His legacy of quiet strength, wisdom, and commitment to the growth of society will continue to inspire generations. We are grateful for the outpouring of support and condolences received during this difficult time.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
