OBUDU (CONVERSEER) – Hon. Peter Akpanke, Member Representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has commissioned 9-classroom blocks for his constituents.
Converseer reports that out of the 9-classroom blocks, one, a 3-classroom block with an office space, was commissioned on 2nd February 2026 at Community Secondary School, Kubong-Bette, while the second, a 6-classroom block, was commissioned on 3rd February 2026, at Ukpada Community Secondary School, Ukpada, Utugwang, all in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.

All the classrooms were well furnished.

While commissioning the projects, Hon. Akpanke stated that he took it upon himself to attract life-changing projects to his constituents since assuming office in 2023.
According to the lawmaker, “It won’t end with these school buildings,” promising to construct the main market road in Utugwang.

“I am also constructing the main market road (in Utugwang). The contract has been awarded. The contractor is just waiting for mobilisation. We’ll come and commission it too by the grace of God,” Akpanke said, thanking the people for all their support.
Akpanke promised the people more if they continued to vote for them. He also called for support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and others.

“As you continue to vote for us and support us, we’ll also bring more good things for you. Our President is doing very well, let’s continue to support him. Our Governor is undertaking massive development projects, including road construction, employment initiatives, and various programmes for our children and women. His wife is empowering a lot of people, let’s continue to support him.
“Our State House of Assembly member, your son, is doing well, let’s keep on praying for him and support him. Our Local Government Chairman is doing exceptionally well. Let’s continue to support our leaders,” the Rep Member stated.

The traditional rulers in both communities declared their total support for Akpanke’s second term, saying, “Your second tenure in office is just a walkover.”

Speaking on behalf of the principals, Mr Egbaji Jacob Egbo, Principal of Ukpada Community Secondary School, said the only thing they can do for the lawmaker is to make good use of the classrooms and support his reelection come 2027.
“The only thing we can do is to pray for him and support him. Come 2027, we’re just waiting for affirmation,” Egbaji said.
Speaking on behalf of the councillors in Bette and Utugwang, Hon. Michael Abua, Councillor representing Bendi Ward III, Utugwang South, stated that the classrooms will be used by everyone, including children whose parents are members of PDP, APC, and other parties.

Adding, “He (Akpanke) is not exempting any political party. When there is development, it is not just purposely for an affiliated set of people.”
On their parts, Hon. Henry Ublibli, APC Chapter Chairman for Obudu; Hon. Ken Aklah, Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Aviation; and Hon. Boniface Eraye Egwe, former Chairman of Obudu, urged the people to support Akpanke for a second term since he has already shown his capacity in just two and a half years.

“He (Akpanke) has been able to win everyone over. He hasn’t exhausted his four years, yet he has come with these beautiful classroom blocks for your children to be professors, governors, president, members of the House of Representatives, chairmen of councils tomorrow. Anybody who brings a good thing deserves a second term,” they stated.
Women and children from both communities expressed their gratitude towards Akpanke, praying for him to achieve more.

Highlights of the commissioning were the declaration of the payment of one term school fees, and the purchase of school bags, sandals and uniforms for selected students of both schools by Hon. Akpanke.
