UYO (CONVERSEER) – The Abaak of Abak, His Royal Highness Oböng Ifiok Umanah Mkpopkporo VII (JP), PhD, has called on churches and parents to cultivate lasting values while honouring heroes to shape the future.

Speaking after the Armed Forces Remembrance Day church service at Salvation Army Church Abak to journalists, the traditional ruler questioned whether churches are effectively nurturing a generation of heroes or losing their influence.

“Are we salt and light in nurturing a generation of heroes? Or are we losing our flavour?” he asked.

He emphasised that churches and parents have fallen short in teaching children integrity, respect, and service, and urged them to recommit to instilling morality and guiding children to be responsible citizens.

The Abaak paid tribute to fallen heroes and prayed that their sacrifice inspires action. His words echoed the need for collective responsibility in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
