CAPE TOWN (CONVERSEER) – A Cape Town family is living a nightmare after 19-year-old Litha Govuza was brutally gunned down while simply waiting for food at a spaza shop.

Govuza was shot five times in Driftsands, Cape Town, in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.

He died at the scene.

His friend, who was with him at the time, survived the attack but was shot twice in both legs and is now recovering.

According to sources close to the family, the attackers allegedly believed the two young men were part of a rival gang linked to the extortion of foreign nationals, commonly referred to as Abo My Friend.

The family says they are struggling to come to terms with the senseless killing.

They are now demanding answers and justice.

Despite this, no arrests have been made.

This is even after MDN News stepped in and provided SAPS in the Western Cape with crucial information, including images of the alleged shooter.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

The killing has once again exposed the deadly consequences of gang violence and extortion networks that continue to terrorise communities.

For Govuza’s family, the pain is unbearable and the wait for justice continues.
