BOKI (CONVERSEER) – Over 12 illegal Fulani migrants have been apprehended in Cross River State. The arrest was made by the Boki local government security team.

According to The Beagle News, the security team headed by the Council Chairman’s SA on Local Security, Mr Stanley Eban, intercepted the migrants around the Ndemechang-Irruan axis of Bunyia/Okubuchi Ward en route to Wula in search of employment.

During interrogation, one of the alleged Fulani migrants confessed, saying “We are going to Wula in search of jobs.”

The head of the security team, Eban, confirmed the incident when contacted. He explained that the operation followed a tip-off, prompting his team to act swiftly.

According to him, “The Fulani men were moving at nocturnal hours through unfamiliar terrain, raising suspicion about their motives and mission in the area.

“We apprehended and immediately transported them to Ogoja, and subsequently returned them to their point of origin via a truck at Ndok Junction.”

Eban urged residents and indigenes of Boki living in the area to remain security-conscious at all times and report any suspicious movements of strangers to the appropriate authorities for swift action.

He emphasised that the administration of Hon. Eti-Eka (Mrs) Beatrice Etta Nyiam will not tolerate any incursion into Boki land.

The arrest is part of ongoing security measures put in place to curb security lapses towards safeguarding the lives and property of communities within Boki Local Government Area.

Converseer reports that this is the second time in less than a year that the local government has witnessed an influx of illegal Fulani migrants at night.

Last week, farmers in Odukpani local government area of the state alleged that Fulani herdsmen are destroying their crops, their only means of livelihood.
