ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj. Gen. JGK Myam (rtd) hosted invited guests, senior officers, friends and family members of the newly promoted senior officers at the Centre Hall, C TY Burutai Building during the decorations ceremony.
The Centre witnessed the decoration of thirty senior officers promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel and two from Colonel to Brigadier General. The senior officers are the participants of the Leadership and Strategic Course 4/2025.
The Special Guest of Honour at the occasion was the former Commander of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command, Minna, Niger State, Maj. Gen. SO Olabanji (rtd), amongst others, were a Principal Staff Officer from Army Headquarters and a Commander from Army formations and Units, including retired senior officers.
The newly promoted senior officers celebrated their promotion as a reward for professionalism and exemplary service to the nation with friends, colleagues and members of their families in a grand style.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Olabanji, rtd, congratulated the newly promoted Colonels and Brigadier Generals and said that their elevation is a “well-deserved milestone” and a testament to their hard work and commitment. He further charged them to be more focused and double their efforts in service to the nation, and build on character, also to add more value to the system, mentor their juniors, and lead by example.
Earlier in his Remarks, the Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj. Gen. JGK Myam (rtd) OFR Congratulates the newly decorated officers and expresses his heartfelt appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu NAM, the Special Guest of Honour and indeed families and friends of the senior officers, acknowledging their unwavering support as the backbone of the officers’ success.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted senior officers, Brigadier General Yakubu Ibrahim expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty, the Chief of Army Staff, for the promotion and to Major General Myam, rtd, for his visionary leadership. He stated further that, “promotion is a transformation in our career in the Army,” he said. “We will double our efforts, never to relent or rest on our oars, we will justify the confidence reposed in us.” He also recognised the pivotal role of their families, whose support has been instrumental in their careers.
Amongst the dignitaries that graced the occasion were Maj. Gen. WM Dangana Commander AHQ Garrison, Maj. Gen. IB Maina, Deputy Chief of Policy and Planning, and Maj. Gen. MO Erebulu Provost Marshall (Army) Amongst others.
The event went hitch-free with a group photograph and reception at the Centre restaurant.
