OGOJA (CONVERSEER) – The Nigeria Police Force has rescued two teenagers, Miracle Ogar (aged 18) and Angela Kingsley (aged 16), from Cross River State from the hands of human traffickers.
Converseer reports that they were rescued along Enugu–Onitsha Expressway by operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, while on routine patrol, on 30th July 2025, at about 2:00 PM.
According to a statement by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 15th August, the victims were lured under the guise of securing a job in Ghana.
“On 30th July 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, while on routine patrol along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway, intercepted a suspected human trafficker, Raymond Sunday Wonna, aged 30, and rescued two (2) young female victims identified as Miracle Ogar (aged 18) and Angela Kingsley (aged 16).
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were deceitfully lured from Ogoja, Cross River State, under the pretext of securing job opportunities in Ghana,” the statement read in part.

The statement added that, “Without the knowledge or consent of their parents, the suspect, who claimed to be a casual labourer, intended to transport them to work in a restaurant allegedly owned by his ‘baby mama’ in Ghana.
“Further findings indicate that while lodging the victims in a hotel pending departure, the suspect attempted to sexually assault them.
“The swift intervention of the operatives not only thwarted the illicit journey but also ensured the victims were safely returned to their families. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the trafficking network.”
